Blogging Isn’t Dead — It’s Just Waiting for Us

Lately, I’ve found myself frustrated with social media. Reels, influencer noise, and clickbait seem to drown out the things I’m genuinely interested in. Everything feels louder, faster, and more cluttered than I want.

I don’t always love the way technology insists on “upgrading” my life. Half the time, it just leaves me relearning things that used to be simpler. What I really want is something easy, calm, and familiar. That’s why I’ve wandered back here.

In Bloggerland, the pace feels slower. Yes, the interface has its quirks (hello, photo upload issues), but at least it doesn’t change every five minutes. I feel a little more in control here — and a lot less bombarded.

Hardly anyone blogs anymore, which makes this feel a bit like opening a time capsule. It’s nostalgic, comforting, and a reminder of how online spaces used to feel: more personal, more thoughtful, more… human.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if blogs had a little renaissance? If you’ve been toying with the idea of dusting yours off, consider this a gentle nudge. I might be standing here alone in the quiet … but honestly?
I don’t mind.
It’s peaceful.
And to me, that’s exactly the point

  1. I absolutely agree with you. Elsewhere there is too much going on and too many adverts, not to mention those writers who now ask for payment in order to read something. Or at least to subscribe so that you can be further bombarded with adverts.

    1. Mind you, blogging might be on the decline but my viewing figures are still huge at the moment compared to normal.

    2. Yes, some of my favourite writers are going down the pay to read model. I understand why but I can't follow down that route, I admire too many writers to keep up with them all. I worry I will miss their new books.

  2. My blog has been sadly neglected this year in favour of FB etc, partly because I have not had very much that I can show and partly due to sheer laziness if I'm honest. I do prefer a blog, posts remain easy to find, you can ramble on without constraint(!) - maybe this is the nudge I need!

    1. So that's agreed then, we'll all blog more! 🙂

  3. In the time that I've been doing HSN I've watched the mass exodus of bloggers to social media. Some did continue with the longer form and I believe that I'm now seeing a return to blogging for the reasons that you've given, and a big hurray for that from me. I look forward to more posts on Sooz Jewels!
